About the Author

Paul Williams is an Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe winning Hall of Fame songwriter ("Rainbow Connection," "Evergreen," and "We've Only Just Begun") and President of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). He is a major public force in the recovery movement, a graduate of UCLA's Drug and Alcohol Counseling Certification Program and has served as a member of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Board of Directors. He was a founding board member and counselor for the Musicians Assistance Program (MAP), now the treatment wing of MusiCares. He has been a passionate public advocate for the recovery movement for the past twenty-four years.Tracey Jackson wrote the films Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Guru and The Other End of the Line among others. She has also written twelve TV pilots, and created the series BABES for Fox TV. Tracey wrote, directed, and starred in the controversial documentary Lucky Ducks, which can presently be seen on Amazon, Journeyman Docs and pay for view. Holy Mother...this book is "Spot On!" I absolutely love the two voices; addict and non-addict. Paul and Tracy have done a fantastic job of conveying the experience, strength and hope discussed in the rooms of recovery to those who wonder and imagine what is shared for that mysterious hour.It is never too early or too late in life to become the person you were meant to be and can be done as long as you are willing. Gracefully written...

Well, to begin with, this is not just a book for "official addicts". This is a book for anyone looking to improve the quality of their day-to-day existence here on this earth. I would venture to say that we are all addicted to something, and chances are, it's not working for ya. I read the book thru the first time and fought it. Was in a bit of denial that I needed to look more carefully at what this book had to offer. So, I took a deep breath and read it again. I instinctively knew, something was there.As the title says, there are six affirmations, and you'd be hard pressed, if you're honest with yourself, to not find one or two that apply.....I found two. The biggest, and hardest to come to terms with, was......"Something needs to change, and it's probably me." Holy sh*@. I need to change?? But what about when the card carrying a-hole comes at me. No, "Something needs to change, and it's probably me." I cannot begin to tell you how powerful this affirmation is, once you have the guts to look at it, carefully. It's incredibly freeing. The second one brought me an incredible sense of calmness, "I don't know how to do this but something inside me does." Yeah, I know. It's a good one.I LOVE the idea that what's good for fixing the addicts is good for fixing all of us! If you've read books written by former celebrity addicts you know that their stories can be extremely entertaining. So I thought Paul Williams would be the same. This was not the case, although he has a funny tidbit or two about being trashed, this is not a self indulgent celebrity tell all by any means. This book is a guide to changing your life, a guide for bringing more peace and calm into your everyday existence. It's for EVERYONE.I knew I had hit on the right book when Tracey Jackson starts talking about being the woman who needs to get the frosting rose off of the birthday cake, before anyone else gets it. It's addiction, whether it be to frosting, cocaine, or vodka. Frosting, it seems so benign. But it's a problem. No really, frosting is a problem, that's just the tip of the iceberg.I think many people are searching, for years, for that book that has the possibility of turning everything around, for me, this was that book. If you are struggling, please check out this book, one of the 6 affirmations will apply, I assure you. Paul and Tracey use their personal examples of what was not working in their lives and how these affirmations and 12 Step guidelines put them on the right track. Excellent guide, for everyone. Gorgeous book and lovely tale!

Wonderful book!

I was given this book as a gift. I have always been huge fan of the stunning Koi and have painted a series of them over the years. The cover is very beautiful, however the photographs inside were a big disappointment. I understand this is a modern fable and the unique photography goes with the story told in Haiku style. However, I would have liked to have seen more photos of Koi in all its natural beauty and in its natural setting sprinkled throughout the book. As a side note: The giver and I were equally disappointed...

The first time I took this book into my hands I was nearly moved to tears. Just thumbing through it is a spiritual experience, Getting deeper into it is downright transcendental! The photographs are stunning. The haiku story is the perfect adjunct. The Harnick family--obviously a loving one--have created a modern artistic masterpiece. I am ordering one for each of my five grandchildren, as well as for friends.

This book is almost empty. Few pictures of Koi fish, some strange looking illustrations and only 4 short lines of text on each page. I guess if that is what you are looking for you will enjoy it. But not me. I was shocked and really disappointed.

I've had an extended phone conversation w/ Michael, which gave me a chance to determine how he thinks and to what extent he understands expertise: how to develop it and deliver it and create wealth (for both parties) in the process. After that, I decided to buy his book (the Kindle version) because my brief experiencing of his website intrigued me. I write business books, but I don't often read them. I find them trite and self-promotional.But this book is not. He doesn't hide behind reams of unnecessary words--in fact, it's divided into 16 digestible chapters. Particularly useful is the collection of 4-6 application questions that follows each. For example, after Chapter 2 explores the relationship of confidence and success (popularly known as the Imposter Syndrome). After a collection of really astute observations, one of these suggestions is this: "Don't worry about making mistakes. Once you've identified what doesn't work, you're closer to figuring out what does." This simple summary follows multiple restatements of just take action and learn from it. Experts--even the ones the ones struggling with self-doubt--keep moving forward.This is one of many examples of why this is a really helpful book. I'm going to buy several print copies and give it to clients who are beginning their journey of expertise. They could easily read a brief chapter at at the start of every work day and be through the entire book in less than three weeks.Somebody introduced me to Michael's work, and I've been very glad for the breath of fresh air. He's one of the few consultants actually giving good advice.

Predictable ra-ra stuff about being confident, double your rates etc interspersed with stories of how his clients turned their thinking around and doubled their sales

I have to be honest - when I first read through Micheal's book, I thought it was a bunch of fluff. He did not give me clear tactics for improvement so I thought I would not be able to use any of his advice. But this book changed my mindset! I have been thinking differently about my business and how I serve my clients since reading it, and it has opened a bunch of new options for me. If you are ready to approach your consulting business differently, to give yourself room to grow, this book will put you in the right frame of mind to do so. It will get you out of your own way so you can succeed.

Small (174 pp) but powerful book for the consultant, new or experienced. It contains chapters such as Mindset, Action, Results, as the basic theme of the book's advice. Also, Attracting Clients, Earning Premium Fees, Working Virtual, Say No, Simplify, and similar. An enjoyable read with examples offering practical advice that can be easily and quickly implemented. A great addition to your consulting library. The author is a consultant to consultants, claiming coaching over 6000 consultants world wide.

You know, this is great stuff. As I read this book I questioned some of the advice and then the author comes back with even more valuable ideas and when I got to the end it was clear, this is a fine book. It has encouraged to dig deeper within myself to start building my consulting business. I loved the ideas and of course, the book is about mindset and this is where the real value is at. Great stuff

I don't like business books. They're so pedantic and self-congratulatory for the most part. But I devoured this book in what seemed like a few minutes. It simply spoke to me in a very personal, even conversational tone.But the main thing about Michael is that he knows that what's inside you is what determines your results. And in chapter after chapter he proves his thesis with personal history, stories, examples, case studies and easy-to-remember principles. And even though he says this is for consultants, it should give comfort and confidence to any service provider who wishes to share their expertise with the wider world.

I got through the chapters quickly and found it to be an easy read - not meaning it didn't require and inspire thought, but it's written in simple and understandable terms. As a consultant, I've struggled with many of the concepts Michael highlights in his book. Michael breaks down the mind sets that lead to procrastination, lack of success, and lack of action quite accurately. He then provides solutions and motivation to overcome the challenges we face as consultants (about 95% of them being mental). I'm an avid reader and always looking for ways to improve in business and life. If you want to really shift your mind set and finally go for it (instead of selling yourself short) - this is a must read!

I started reading this book because Michael asked me to. I told him I'd "skim it."Well, I'm now I'm finishing it because I want to.Michael has a certain "light touch" and elegance as he walks through the various mindset issues that trip up consultants at all levels.

We bought our 8 and 10 year old girls these books the past three years and they love them. Having to find license plates for all the states is quite a challenge and thus occupies much of their time in the car during our travels. We just went 200 miles out of town this weekend and they found 30 states already. We give them an extra incentive by offering them $20 if they can find all the states except Hawaii, and another bonus of $20 for Hawaii. They get 40+ states every year, but I have yet to pay out any bonuses :-). Because of the money, we require that an adult verify the license plates before they can add the sticker or every oncoming car would be the elusive Delaware, Washington DC, or Hawaii. At campgrounds, my daughter takes a camera around and takes pictures of missing states. It's quite the fun, family game.About the only complaint I hear is that the books do not have Canadian or Mexican provinces/states like some other license plate books we've had in the past. We live close to Canada and see all of the provinces regularly, so it would be great if they added them to the book.

We took a three week trip out west last year and this year too. Each trip I purchased a copy of this book for my two younger kids, ages eight and ten. This provided hours of entertainment while driving down the road looking for license plates to complete the map in the center of the book. Stickers representing each state's license plate can be placed on the appropriate spot on the map once the license has been spotted on a car. The only down side is that the stickers are located in the center of the book so you must rip them out to see the entire US map or you can only see half of the map at a time. There are many activities pertaining to the states in the book as well. They were easy to do and provided hours of entertainment and a little bit of an education as well. I will definitely buy again next year for our next road trip.

I bought this for my 11 year old daughter for our two months spent in USA. She really enjoyed looking for license plates and filling in the map in the center of the book with the stickers provided. (See the photo I uploaded.) It became a family project as time went on. When we saw Alaska, we all screamed in joy! The poor owner of the car. We probably scared her. I rolled down my window and told her we were collecting license plates.My daughter also said the puzzles were entertaining. I was happy that the games were reinforcing some state facts and geography.

Bought one for each of my 2 children on a road trip out west. Best $10 for entertainment that I have ever spent. Kids (ages 7 & 9) were so interested in finding license plates that our whole family joined in the game for hours. While the book could be designed a bit better, it served its purpose well.Sticker page for the license plates is in the center of your U.S. map, which makes adding stickers to some of the states a bit difficult. But it didn't diminish the entertainment factor much. The license plate designs are up-to-date, which is important. I wish they would have added Canadian provinces, too.Overall, a great modern book to use in the old license plate game. My kids loved it. Get a copy for each kid so they don't have to fight about whose turn it is to put the sticker on when a new license plate is found. You'll be glad you did.

I bought this for a trip I was taking with my sister and nephews. Previously we had always written down the states that we saw. The youngest one didn't fully understand, the oldest slept a lot of the time, and my middle nephew is in a wheelchair and couldn't see the cars very well... but I had a blast with it! There are other pages, but I only bought it for the page with the map and license plate stickers. I will definitely purchase again for a girls road trip I'm going on... it's not just for kids!! Great price too!

The activities in this book are great. But we mainly bought it for the map and license plate stickers. Again, great activity, we had fun with it, but poor design. The pages were not perferated or easy to take out of the middle at all. (And if you don't take the sticker pages out, you can't see the whole map at once). So we ripped some of the stickers right away. Not how I wanted to start my 18 hour car ride with tears in the back seat over ripped stickers:( Also, some of the states in the middle don't lay flat when you put them on because of the fold in the middle. It's quite large. Again, we love the book. Just wish the map and stickers were more user friendly!

We took this on our 3 week summer road trip and loved it.We found every state license plate except for...Lousiana? We traveled from Maryland all the way to South Dakota, stopping for days/ weeks at a time in MN, WI, SD, ND, OH and IN. Louisianans, you guys gotta get out more!

This is hands down one of the best things I have ever bought. I bought two, one for my 8 year old and one for my 6 year old. I didn't buy them for a road trip, just for around town. Somedays we even go driving to hotels and see what we can find. It's been a great activity for all of us, I'm 36 and enjoy it just as much as the kids! I can't tell you the excitement when we found a Vermont and Connecticut license plate in Indiana!

We went on an RV road trip from Las Vegas to Yosemite, with multiple stops in between. This was a great way to keep track of which license plates you've seen. Our 8 year old wasn't 100% impressed with it, but my husband and I loved it! We were the ones yelling out the state and putting the sticker in! :)

after learning about this amazing man and some of his groundbreaking healings, i could hardly wait to receive the book to find out more. this is a very unique book that guides you through daily exercises to help you to transform your life in so many ways. there is a beautiful spiritual teaching that goes with the exercises that encourages you to think in a totally different way to empower you towards creating change and transformation. it all starts with you. there is a different exercise for every day of the month which keeps your interest alive and helps you to open your mind to other realities. would thoroughly recommend this book to those who are soul searching and open to understanding a deeper level of reality and who want to empower themselves to create change. it feels a little strange with some of the translation (when you first start), but it is well worth persevering as the energy keeps building up as you persevere. it also gives you a closer feeling of your own eternal link to a loving creator and your own unique creative power. no-one should be a victim after reading this! and anyone can do this. i thoroughly recommend that you research petrov and grabavoi on the internet and the miracles that have been performed.
