I've had an extended phone conversation w/ Michael, which gave me a chance to determine how he thinks and to what extent he understands expertise: how to develop it and deliver it and create wealth (for both parties) in the process. After that, I decided to buy his book (the Kindle version) because my brief experiencing of his website intrigued me. I write business books, but I don't often read them. I find them trite and self-promotional.But this book is not. He doesn't hide behind reams of unnecessary words--in fact, it's divided into 16 digestible chapters. Particularly useful is the collection of 4-6 application questions that follows each. For example, after Chapter 2 explores the relationship of confidence and success (popularly known as the Imposter Syndrome). After a collection of really astute observations, one of these suggestions is this: "Don't worry about making mistakes. Once you've identified what doesn't work, you're closer to figuring out what does." This simple summary follows multiple restatements of just take action and learn from it. Experts--even the ones the ones struggling with self-doubt--keep moving forward.This is one of many examples of why this is a really helpful book. I'm going to buy several print copies and give it to clients who are beginning their journey of expertise. They could easily read a brief chapter at at the start of every work day and be through the entire book in less than three weeks.Somebody introduced me to Michael's work, and I've been very glad for the breath of fresh air. He's one of the few consultants actually giving good advice.

Predictable ra-ra stuff about being confident, double your rates etc interspersed with stories of how his clients turned their thinking around and doubled their sales

I have to be honest - when I first read through Micheal's book, I thought it was a bunch of fluff. He did not give me clear tactics for improvement so I thought I would not be able to use any of his advice. But this book changed my mindset! I have been thinking differently about my business and how I serve my clients since reading it, and it has opened a bunch of new options for me. If you are ready to approach your consulting business differently, to give yourself room to grow, this book will put you in the right frame of mind to do so. It will get you out of your own way so you can succeed.

Small (174 pp) but powerful book for the consultant, new or experienced. It contains chapters such as Mindset, Action, Results, as the basic theme of the book's advice. Also, Attracting Clients, Earning Premium Fees, Working Virtual, Say No, Simplify, and similar. An enjoyable read with examples offering practical advice that can be easily and quickly implemented. A great addition to your consulting library. The author is a consultant to consultants, claiming coaching over 6000 consultants world wide.

You know, this is great stuff. As I read this book I questioned some of the advice and then the author comes back with even more valuable ideas and when I got to the end it was clear, this is a fine book. It has encouraged to dig deeper within myself to start building my consulting business. I loved the ideas and of course, the book is about mindset and this is where the real value is at. Great stuff

I don't like business books. They're so pedantic and self-congratulatory for the most part. But I devoured this book in what seemed like a few minutes. It simply spoke to me in a very personal, even conversational tone.But the main thing about Michael is that he knows that what's inside you is what determines your results. And in chapter after chapter he proves his thesis with personal history, stories, examples, case studies and easy-to-remember principles. And even though he says this is for consultants, it should give comfort and confidence to any service provider who wishes to share their expertise with the wider world.

The Elite Consulting Mindset was just what I needed to examine where my business is and where I want it to go. I got through the chapters quickly and found it to be an easy read - not meaning it didn't require and inspire thought, but it's written in simple and understandable terms. As a consultant, I've struggled with many of the concepts Michael highlights in his book. Michael breaks down the mind sets that lead to procrastination, lack of success, and lack of action quite accurately. He then provides solutions and motivation to overcome the challenges we face as consultants (about 95% of them being mental). I'm an avid reader and always looking for ways to improve in business and life. If you want to really shift your mind set and finally go for it (instead of selling yourself short) - this is a must read!

I started reading this book because Michael asked me to. I told him I'd "skim it."Well, I'm now I'm finishing it because I want to.Michael has a certain "light touch" and elegance as he walks through the various mindset issues that trip up consultants at all levels.
