You can purchase street maps for Rio.Just as it says on the cover, this is a "mapguide" covering "the city in section-by-section maps."What's great about the small book (perfect for your backpack) are the fold-out maps which give you a sense of where the different attractions are located in that section of the city.There are also lots of great pictures (although small) and write-ups on many of the most interesting places to see. The mini-reviews also include addresses, phone numbers, hours of operation and typical costs.There is also a section in the back which shows the Metro line (which you need to pay heed to if you're heading to Maracana) and info on airports, buses (check out the surfbus!), sealinks, taxis and car rentals.Also lots of hotel, hostel and guest house (posada) recommendations along with pricing info.This is a tremendous resource for your stay in Rio. I never knew much about M. L. King other than what I read in newspapers and articles. This book presents his real thoughts in his own words which gives you a very different perspective on this man. He was a deep thinker and a committed Christian. He was all about keeping religion in the public sphere. You don't have to read all of it but can jump around to letter to letter and speech to speech. He really comes across in his writings in a way the public has never really understood. A must read.

King;s Testament of Hope...superb. timeless, both historical and applicable to today's class warfare His essence shines through to speak to us today who are frustrated, angry and despairing over a mushrooming oligarchy whose sociopathic and King Kong footfalls continues to crush the Great Middle Class on their way to their Holy Grail of unfettered power. Decades ago, King faced the Goliath of in-your-face racism at the hands of Southern White Masters who would lynch their economic black slaves if they crossed these written and unwritten power lines electrified by hate and fear posturing as force. King's "love your enemy" exhortations to remember that these human King Kongs were caught in a systemic web of evil was as hard then as seeing the humanity in the socially unconscious Koch Brothers and their ilk. But King's Love ethic in no way pointed to doormat behavior. At its core, his "love thy neighbor" polestar was girded by non-violent, resistant action--physically passive but powerfully, internally active. Such power of the soul touches the persecutor in way force fails--it changes the heart of the human and leads to reconciliation and thus a stronger society, where force amplified the fears of the persecutor prompting more counter-force, leading to a failed and hopelessly divided society.I am 100 pages into this 700 page time bible of personal and social action in the face of any zealous forces. I am more deeply grasping how to respond to multinationals and their bought out governmental puppets on the world, national, state and local levels. I need to transform my hatred of their actions to increasing purposeful behavior. I'd rather be a disciple of King Jr. and Gandhi than armed militancy.

One needs to read or hear MLK's speeches to understand him. I prefer to listen. It takes me back to a time of hope and real change. The Reverend King was not always "fired up" and preaching. Often his voice is low-key. I think this was a conscious kind of holding back so as not to appear to be "above" his crowd, often a crowd of white people. It is his logic, his examples, his stories that still soar even when his voice is calm and even.

It is enlightening to learn that Sir King's scholarly prowess went far beyond the occasional speeches touched on in high school education. This man was nothing short of a prophet who could hold his own among all the other prophets who walked beside man for a time and would ultimately be killed for it. This lovely collection touches on the spectrum of wisdom he embodied very effectively.

This book gives great insight into a man America needed and still needs. His writings and speeches really make you think about the healing and change he wanted for this nation. I recommend this book for everyone who wants to understand the "historical" Dr. King and why America needs to continue his legacy.

This was so great that I had to buy several copies for other people. It is great to see the text of the speeches, letters and sermons in print. Fantastic resource.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a brilliant man. This is not a quick read by any means, but you owe it to yourself to check it out. I wish good people could stick around for a while (instead of being snuffed out by evil), they could actually change the world. Just as a side note, I'm a white man, but I have the utmost respect for Martin Luther King Jr. and he is one of my favorite historical figures.

This is a very colorful, visually stimulating introduction to volcanoes and earthquakes. It was a gift for an 8 year old nephew and he seemed to appreciate it a lot. It would be appropriate for kids from 4-10, depending on the kid.

This is a great book. The illustrations are fantastic, and the content is easy to understand. My eight-year-old grandson fell in love with it. Made a terrific Christmas present!

This book was a gift for my seven year old grandson. He is very interested in weather and natural disasters so he loved this book as well as others in the National Geographic series.

I've been working on a research project on Roger Williams for months now and was using a hardcover set of his complete writings through a inter-library loan at my school. Researching this way was really inconvenient between trying to keep all my notes on his writings organized, not being able to mark up the text (which is understandable), and also dealing with libraries not allowing me to have the books long enough to finish my research.Finding this volume was a godsend! It made my research ten times easier. The price alone made the purchase worth it, I paid over $60 for a copy of Williams's George Fox Digg'd Out of His Burrowes before I found this.

Williams, the founder of Rhode Island, was a controversial and influential figure in New England. His views on freedom of religion and his belief that the Natives, not the King of England were the sole owners of their land got him banished from Massachusetts Bay Colony.He maintained correspondence with friends among his former colleagues there who valued his friendship, if not his ideas. His letters were gathered and published by R. I. Historical society as part of his complete writings early in the 20th century. Those publications became hard to find. It is wonderful that these reprints are available now.

Anyone interested in the separation of church and state and does want the government telling what to believe , or about your morality…then Roger Williams is for you….this is one of 7 volumes….Williams also had a deep sensitivity to and appreciation of our native American population at time when most thought they were savages.

A few years ago I sought out the writings of Roger Williams. There were none to be had. This vital figure of major historical importance was silent, for the most part. Which seems especially peculiar given his relevance for so many contemporary questions of church and state.I found a set of his collected writings in the library of my alma mater, but I was hoping to have a little more ability to sit with these great texts, as well as make the occasional note and use as references whenever I needed. So, I was a little discouraged in my burgeoning Williams interest.Then I noticed the collected works were being re-released. Very wonderful.These are not newly edited texts. These are the facsimiles of a much older collection, which is obvious in the retention of old printer habits, which is most noticable, for this modern eye, in the absence of most 's' characters replaced by the 'f' looking character, a curious addition given the mid-1800s original publication. A little awkward to read at first, but it does give a historical feel to these newly bound, glossy covered texts.In Volume 2 we don't read much of Williams. Instead we are treated to a continuation of the dialogue between Williams and John Cotton.In these pages Cotton dominates, with his "Answer to Roger Williams" taking up pages 1-240, followed by the very brief "Queries of Highest Consideration" filling pages 241-276.I would hope there is before too long a newly edited version of these great letters and writings, but for now, these are the volumes to get and enjoy
