I just took my Kaplan test today and my scores were as follows:Reading: 91%Math: 93%Writing: 67%Science: 70%Critical Thinking: 94%My overall score was 81%. This is pretty good condsidering the minimum to get into the school I’m aiming for is 70%.(Also, my school doesn’t use the science score.)Overall, the book was quite helpful. The book goes over the material for the HESI and Kaplan. Only study the material for the Kaplan if you’re only taking the Kaplan test. The other material won’t help you. Also for the science portion, only study Anatomy and Phyisiolgy. You can skip over everything else because it won’t be on the Kaplan test. I only studied for 2 weeks and I think my score isn’t bad for 2 weeks of studying. I ran out of time on the writing portion and didn’t fill in 2 questions. I found the writing and science portions much harder in real life than the practice test that the book provided. The reading and math were actually easier than the practice exams. There were some questions on the exam that the book didn’t cover. For example, there was a questions about asthma but this book briefly went over the respiratory system and never mentioned asthma. And that’s just one example. For anatomy and physiology, just go over your old PowerPoints and notes along as reading this book.
I just took the Kaplan Nursing Entrance exam today. I wish I had seen other reviews prior to purchasing this. Many reviewers have indicated that the book is not useful. I passed the exam, but fortunately I utilized ACT writing study books and math help online. This book covers various exams and is definitely not on point with the "Kaplan" test. You will over prepare for the map if you study all of the topics covered in this book. The writing section on the actual test is extremely odd and subjective. Look elsewhere for study material.
