I simply love this book, am excited to start including these recipes in our home! Living in sunny Africa it will be interesting to recreate these recipes originating in such a different and snowy country! The introduction and photos of each recipe are delightful and inspiring! I've been a huge fan of Rachel for years and an even bigger fan of Swedish culture since childhood. I got the printed copy of this book from Amazon UK. This book is another culinary journey that is similar to her earlier books on French cooking. It's not an entire compilation of Sweden but does have certain dishes that are unique to certain regions.So far, I've only made two recipes. I made a variation of the Västerbotten pie (sort of like a cheese quiche with onion and chanterelle mushrooms) with mature cheddar because the västerbotten (a Swedish cheese) was impossible to locate. It's a good recipe and wasn't difficult to make. The roasted butternut squash waffles sounded unusual but were actually pretty good. The only con I found was that the squash makes the waffles a bit squishy. They weren't crispy waffles but it was an interesting take on waffles. The recipe uses fresh butternut squash (that is roasted and then pureed) and doesn't give instructions on a canned equivalent. I used canned squash and the recipe was fine.There are 4 sections in the book for each season. The layout is more user friendly because I think it's easier to cook based on what's in season. The book is pretty salad heavy. There are lots of "bun" recipes (cardamon buns, black pudding, apple and cheese, St. Lucia etc.) . Of course, there's a recipe or two for meatballs. Unlike her previous books, there are quite a lot of vegetarian and gluten free recipes. I am not the latter but do appreciate meat free dishes once in awhile. My only complaint so far is that I would have liked a source list. The book doesn't call for many ingredients that would be difficult to find (maybe except for Swedish caviar, västerbotten or knäckebröd, a type of cracker) but I wanted to have some recommendations of what to buy online since I don't live in Sweden.I think it's too early to tell how high this cookbook will rank on my list of Rachel's books ("The Little Paris Kitchen" remains my favorite out of all 6 of her books.) but I do think it's a good intro to Swedish food for an English-speaking audience. The writing style feels very warm and personal with insights into her home life in Stockholm and new family. I think this book is less commercial than her last cookbook and it lacks her classic illustrations so if you're a fan like me you'll be missing those.EDIT NOVEMBER 2018: I have upgrade my original review from 4 stars to 5 after trying a few more recipes. I made the plum tosca cake (like an upside down cake with toasted nuts on top) and coconut macaroons with melted dark chocolate that were both very easy. I don't think the recipes I've tried are complicated for new cooks and most of the ingredients are pretty easy to find.

I have the utmost respect for academic librarians and aspire to be one someday. The story of David Breithaupt is unusual in that he is not a common criminal but the victim of this own relationship. McDade's crystal clear and concise narrative informs the reader that sometimes we are not dealing with a mastermind but merely a victim of circumstance. Breithaupt seems to have been unduly manipulated to engage in rare book larceny. When he is finally caught he wasn't living the high life but merely getting by while his significant other, who escaped prosecution, walked away with the lion's share of the book profits.When everything is said and done, you cannot help but feel sorry for this poor misunderstood librarian who was the victim of his own relationship.The book is short and sweet. If you are even remotely interested in fine art crime, I would highly recommend this title. McDade is an expert in this particular field and I would say this book is an excellent primer demonstrating his gift of true crime storytelling.

If you love books, use and respect libraries, and like to read true crime, you'll want to take a look at this fascinating story of a criminal whose life-long passion--rare books--lured him into a life of larceny. Professor Travis McDade, the author, is the curator of rare law books at the University of Illinois and a leading expert on crimes against rare books, maps, and manuscripts. He is also a member of the Mystery Writers of America, and his book is told with the consummate skill of an experienced crime-writer. Disappearing Ink isn't exactly a thriller (there's no shoot-'em-up and the chase scenes are definitely slo-mo). But it is a detailed, meticulous study of a major crime and the failures of our justice system. I gobbled it down in a day and am reaching right now for another of McDade's books.

The Bruno Hauptmann of rare books lives! This is a grim reminder of broken humanity and betrayed trust in an otherwise peaceful college village and a mortal blow to their own "Smithsonian" collection.

Also, you will find helpful information about how Roth IRA conversions could help you and your heirs keep more of your retirement savings from the tax man. I intend to follow Mr. Lange's invaluable advice, which will give me confidence as I wade through all the complexities of the retirement process. The book covers what could be a complicated subject but is written clearly and is easy to understand.

Wow! This is a really helpful, relatively simply written book. Yes, I had to read through a couple of his numbers twice to understand them. But once I did, the message was clear. WAIT as long as you can before you take Social Security! Don't let the talking heads on TV scare you in "getting what's yours now before Social Security goes bust". If you want to be greedy, WAIT to take your Social Security money. That way you get MORE MONEY from the government. How cool is that. The author's ideas on Roth conversions are brilliant, though a bit tricky. I want to read more from him on the subject, but he definitely made me re-think my approach to paying for retirement

James Lange's new min-book is well thought out and written in plain English - it should be read by Everyone approaching retirement age, especially if they have any interest in their future and the future of their loved ones! The Social Security Administration is very happy to have contributors leave tens of thousands - more likely - hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table from a lack of information. This mini-book provides information direly needed by taxpayers. Also recommend Lange's updated 'flagship' book "Retire Secure!" and (as does Lange): 'Get What's Yours - The 'Revised' Secrets to Maxing Out Your Social Security" by Laurence Kotlikoff.

James Lange does a terrific job of taking complex regulatory language and translating it to understandable, actionable concepts that significantly improve the average American's ability to maximize their entitlements under Social Security rules. Well worth reading.

There is a lot of information in this book. Fortunately Mr. Lange has a gift for clear explanations, with examples given to help illustrate the concepts presented. I first bought the Kindle version, then ordered a paperback version to give to my brother and his wife. Now Mr. Lange needs to write a book with information for single people.

"If you (and your spouse, if you are married) die early, you will have no financial problems because you will be dead (maybe a bit harsh, but true). What you should be worried about is that you (and/or your spouse) will outlive your savings." This simple truth from Mr. Lange completely changed how I viewed when to start taking Social Security benefits. I'm also a big fan of Roth IRAs and their conversions. Book is a quick read with great advice.

Since I absolutely love The Art Forger, I was looking forward to a similarly engaging story. While well written, the book’s main characters left me cold and disinterested in their development. Perhaps it was the author’s intention to portray them as disagreeable and manipulative; if so, she succeeded. It was hard slogging to finish the book because I really couldn’t care about what happened to the characters.

I loved The Art Forger and The Muralist. Her third novel fell short. The assembling, displaying and “looting” of the Impressionist and Post Impressionist paintings owned by Barnes should have served as an exciting backdrop for an art-focused historical fiction. Her insight into Matisse and what he and his peers were trying to achieve was well done. By Barnes was inadequately developed, and his relationships with his wife, chief of staff and the key patrons of the Philadelphia Museum of Art were disappointingly shallow.

This is the most interesting book I have read in a long time. Wonderful, complex reading for those interested in art, art history, aesthetics, the 1920s decade...the list goes on. Shapiro has a fine hand when it comes to the English language; she wields this admirable asset deftly and effectively. Example: Descriptive passages allowing the reader to visualize. She challenges the reader to keep up, and this is one of her many strengths. Example: Moving the story through time and space with ease and facility. The story includes many historical characters who speaks as they would have spoken. Warning: Do not start this book at bedtime. You won't be able to stop. I loved it.

I love the premise of the novel, and the way fact and fiction are interwoven. Clearly, Shapiro did a lot of research. I am an artist so I did not have to look up any of the artworks. However, Shapiro used a lot of cliches and skimmed too quickly over some parts. I felt like her editors/publisher gave her a word limit and super tight deadline. I would much prefer to read a book that is twenty pages longer and have it go smoothly.

I anxiously await books from B AShapiro after reading The Art Forger, which was so good! The Collectors Apprentice is not at the same level....I didn’t find the characters that interesting or appealing....they seemed very flat. The pacing seemed forced, all in the service of moving the story along but not particularly interesting. It maybe was a fine book but I started with higher expectations for it so was a bit disappointed.

I was disappointed in this book it was not nearly as captivating as her earlier books. I found the language too simplistic and the plot boring. And I usually love books about art and art history. This one I put aside half read

In an atypical afterword for an art history novel, Shapiro describes what is fact and what is invention in her story. Which shouldn't encourage us to read historical fiction as merely dramatized history.

I love the way this book mixed facts with fiction in the art world. It was a fast enjoyable read. As usual I am never disappointed with this author’s writing and look forward to her books.

Magnificent book and a very nice chronology and lineage of many collector boats around the world. Really well done aesthetically and in writing so as to bring the reader into the meaning of the ownership experience of of a Hinckley. My only add would be to add any citations to any other information sources so as to continue your investigation in the Hinckley experience.

I bought this as a birthday present for my father, and he absolutely was entranced not only by the glorious photography, but the beautiful history behind each boat.

If you are a classic sailboat fan or fond of American built products this is a great book to add to your collection.

Excellent content, but poor quality printing.Very disappointed about that. You would think the publishers creating a coffee table book about the most prestigious yacht builder left in America might choose an equally high quality finish product.That is NOT the case here.

She proffers a "clean" chart. So simple without all the myriad analyses lines and numbers generated from one simple datum....the PRICE. All you really need is price, volume, support, resistance and candlesticks (and just a mere few of those). What a pleasure looking at an uncomplicated chart. For the first time I am consistently making money as a swing trader, using 5m,15 m, 1H and 1 day time frames. The 1h and 1D are for establishing the support & resistance lines. I do the analysis and make the trade in the 15m...the 5m is used for entry/exit timing only.However, though the text and concepts are 5 star, the small black and white charts with tiny candlesticks in two shades of grey are almost unintelligible.

This is the second book by Anna C. that I have read. I like the way she writes; putting the complicated items of all currencies and related economics into simpler and usable terms and idea pictures that I can relate to. I read slowly as a rule, just for the enjoyment of the journey, but her books I not only enjoy slowly but find myself re-reading parts and often stopping to think about what she has just written. File this book under: Thought Provoking, Very Informative, Very Useful.

Big props to the author as i really enjoyed this book...to be honest it was even better than john murphy's intermarket analyis.Very well written, and by that I mean that everything is explained with a degree of simplicity leaving out the majority of unnecessary information thats useless for trading. Reading this with prior experience in the field allows u to appreciate it even more.its important to understand that this in not a trading system....but more importantly its an "approach" to how to analyze, prepare and overall read the market.the burden of turning this analysis into money will always lie on each individual trader and their specific trading approach.(im new to the volume analysis stuff...but has been a useful tool for me with very short term trading)

I have just finished reading A Three Dimensional Approach to Forex Trading. It has provided me with a clear path to trading. I have read many books on the subject but this information provides a clear and concise approach as to what information to obtain about the currencies. Such as, interest rates for carry trade, import & export statistics, etc. The section on VPA was especially helpful. This book has provided me with the knowledge and confidence to make educated and informed decisions to make successful trades.

I learned much from this book because it gets very deeply into the subject matter. While I am trading differently now, with a mathematical algorythm not requiring fundamentals of any of those things, I believe the information here is valuable. This book has given me a new perspective on forex trading. I was taken on a journey that explained all the elements involved in the forex market. With the new insights and updating of old concepts, i believe i now have a very good chance of making it as a successful forex trader.

Really, this the most detailed and honest book about forex trading I have ever read. The author puts a lot of emphasis not only on providing and explaining facts, but also on debunking common myths or fallacies. I have never spent 6 bucks in a wiser way than buying this book. It really opens your eyes and your mind about the underground processes in the currency markets. Surely the amount of information in the book is overwhelming - don't expect to put everything in your head at once. But it leaves you subconscious clues which are likely to pop up during your actual trading. It is one of those books which you will get back to for many times. This book has clear derivations of the key formulae, and good warnings on approximations. The discussion throughout is rich, readable and rewarding (the reference list is ~100 pages long). Overall it is too detailed to be used as the sole textbook for a grad course, but I am using selections from this book as part of the required reading for a grad-level course in planetary habitability at the University of Chicago. For researchers in the field, this is a required reference - analogous to de Pater and Lissauer for planetary scientists. The book is both broad and thorough, emphasizing solar system data but with an eye to exoplanet-relevant processes throughout. I was particularly impressed that the authors' presentation is balanced between historical science (what happened and why on particular planets/moons) and basic physics and chemistry (which should be generalizable to all planets). This is a contrast with earlier (1980s) texts which emphasized either planetary history or atmospheric physics/chemistry but not both. As might be expected given the research interests of the authors, the influence of geodynamics, planet formation, and planetary interiors on atmospheric evolution does not receive a detailed treatment. However, the literature on these questions does not really exist yet. This is a young field, and there is a lot of work to be done!
