This amazing book has totally changed my view of Katey Sagal. I've always loved her but I took her as someone who had everything handed to her. She was born and raised into the Industry, but this book changed that. It shows that just because someone has something doesn't mean they're happy. It doesn't mean they didn't work hard for it. Within the first chapter I was crying. And I'm not even joking. Actual tears.

I want to start off saying I'm a huge fan of Katey Sagal, I always have been. When reading this book I absolutely became an even bigger fan! The thins this woman went through in her life, some things I can relate to as a mother! Such a raw, real-emotional bio! I don't know necessarily if I would consider this "letters" to her kids! But it's definitely one of I couldn't put don't, and I'm NOT a fan of bios-sometimes they get too off the tracks in them and then they leave you kind of thinking "Huh?!"I would totally recommend this! Great Vacation read on the beach!!

Katey, I just finished your book "Grace Notes" and I loved it! I related to you on so many levels it felt good to know there's someone else out there a little bit like me. You're brave and I appreciate your openness, honesty and wit. Your book was a page turner and I love how you get to the point but share enough of yourself to show your vulnerability, strength, and beautiful love. Thank you!!

Katey Sagal tells it like it is. I like the fact that she's not full of herself. If anything, she may have been too hard on herself. She's wife, mother, actress and musician and is exceptionally talented but her books describes her misfortunes as she was growing up and up till now. Very successful woman. I liked her honesty and she is not different from any one of us with all our insecurities. I can relate to her in some ways. I highly recommend her book.

Loved this book! I received it Saturday and was done reading it Saturday. I have always been a big fan of Katey Sagal and was completely fascinated with her "journal". A big thank you to her for sharing what was originally intended to be a gift to her children.

Katey Sagal opens up in this revealing and honest memoir. I had first seen Katey on the ill-fated Mary Tyler Moore sitcom, "Mary," as Jo Tucker. She was fantastic. I was never a fan of "Married: With Children" though I could see Katey's talent. This is a baring of her heart and her soul. I feel like I have gotten to know her a bit. I had found the book hard to put down. Katey is a great talent.

I'm really not a Katey Sagal fan, but this was recommended on a literary review website - and I am open to other points of view. A good book is a good book. I enjoyed the portion of the book detailing Katey's early life, her parents, her origins....However as she goes through life, her story, or maybe the telling of it became boring.... There were a few juicy tidbits in the book, some name dropping, but not too much. Kind of boring bio.

Not a terrible book but If you’re expecting her to go into the details of her drug addiction and recovery, she doesn’t. She kind of speeds past it and it becomes more of a book about her being a musician and actress and the rest Is downplayed.

This is a terrific overview of the legal job market. As an HR professional who has done interviewing and hiring in non-legal environments, this book was spot on in describing the best ways to prepare for interviews, to write your resume, and to find the hidden jobs available in the grey markets. I especially appreciate the book warning people to avoid items that are traditionally considered essential (but really aren't!) like incredibly generic objective statements or hobbies sections-- things I've been saying to students for years. The real benefit of this book, though, it the tremendous amount of information and research in it. There is an incredibly substantial amount of information related to organizations and agencies that hire Attorneys in all sorts of unexpected areas of the law, and in concrete tips to find jobs that may not be advertised traditionally. This, all in a package that is easy to read (I did in two sittings).I'd highly recommend this work if you're in law school, recently graduated, or plan to go back into the job market. The tips, of course, are designed for entry-level attorneys, but many of the skills are applicable in non-legal or legal support positions as well.

I run a website for law students (The Girl's Guide to Law School), so I get a lot of questions from distressed 3Ls and recent law grads about how to find work in this rather dreadful legal economy. Frankly, I didn't have a lot of good advice to give them. It's no secret the job market is really difficult, and most standard advice - "network," "do some informational interviews," "think outside the box" - isn't all that satisfying.Luckily, I got a review copy of From Lemons to Lemonade, so now I just refer them to this book, or hand out ideas from it!It starts with about 90 pages of information on less obvious places to look for legal-related work, then moves into the nuts-and-bolts of a legal job search, with ideas specifically for young lawyers on how to enhance their credentials, quickly and cost-effectively. Finally, it includes a huge appendix section, which alone is probably worth the cost of the book. Some very useful stuff is included.I'll be frank - there's a lot of tough love in here. The author appears to have little patience for job hunters who prefer complaining over action, so this book isn't for everyone. As a person who has chronic illness, I found "Surviving and Thriving with an Invisible Chronic Illness" to be an outstanding, empowering, stand-alone resource for how to handle the myriad of life situations that a person with chronic illness is forced to confront. From how to approach others about your chronic illness to how to seek medical care to considerations about employment, this book offers plenty of food for thought. The author's great sense of humor and conversational tone also make this an easy, enjoyable read. For example, Ilana Jacqueline states (page 165), "In fact, many with chronic illnesses find that other obstacles in life become laughably trivial after they've started learning to cope with their disease. Deadlines? Bills? Social squabbles? Please." So true!In a peer-to-peer style, I appreciate how Jacqueline delved deep into the mindset of chronic illness, thoroughly addressing the shame component, while also explaining the mindset of the healthy who do not only not experience chronic illness, so they therefore cannot understand it, but they also feel powerless to help (no "quick fix" here) when their friend or loved one has a chronic illness.Lastly, I could relate to Jacqueline's statement (page 114), "I sometimes forget that my disease is a full-time job." Yes, it sure is. With "Surviving and Thriving," whether you are newly diagnosed or a seasoned chronically ill "veteran," or know someone with chronic illness, you will be reminded to not only not let your illness define you, but you will also have a companion that will guide and empower you to manage it more effectively.

As someone who struggles with Crohns Disease, I appreciated the authors tips on keeping yourself active and maintaining self care even when your body is in pain. There were some very obvious things that I felt were almost too common sense to be related in a book, but I guess not everyone has a mature or sensible viewpoint on their illness.

I have Hashimoto's Autoimmune Thyroid Disease. It was under control for about 1 years following my thyroidectomy. Suddenly, at age 29, I began having major flare ups and frustrations. A friend recommended this book and I could NOT put it down. It made me feel supported and positive, with hope for how to better advocate for myself as a patient and live my best life, not just exist. Her brand of humor is refreshing and she offers numerous practical resources.

This book takes the shame out of chronic illness. It makes you laugh and gives really usable advise. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a chronic illness, or anyone who is a caregiver or friend.

Phenomenal book about how patients can be their best self and understand how to navigate the muddy waters of chronic complex illness. Every patient and doctor should have a copy to better understand the complexities of chronic illness patients and the struggles we have outside of the doctors office or hospital. Will recommend to all patients to read :) good job Illana for providing a resource for patients to find their voice and continue being a superhero.

I love Eyewitness Guides and have been using them for years. The only reason I gave it four stars is that the pages are shiny and create a glare that makes it difficult to see under certain lights. Also, there's a lot of information packed in these books so the print is pretty small.

The guide was helpful once I arrived in Malta but less so for planning purposes. I would have liked more practical information like about tipping or that the bus system is great but never in time. The size of the book was perfect. I could always carry it with me.

This is a very nice little book that features the things that you'll want to see the first time around and also provides a couple of nice maps that you can take out and slip into your pocket. It goes into enough detail so that you have some idea what you're looking at, but not so much detail that you end up with a guidebook that makes you list to one side when you carry it in your bag. Everything was accurate and I found it a great help.

I like that it highlights key sights and other destinations from more mundane ones.

This book was easy to use, I referred to the pull out map frequently which was small enough to slip into my purse.

This nook was given to my nephew who showed an interest in all things Titanic. I found it an excellent read for his level and piqued his curiosity for more information. It is a perfect introduction-level book for young readers. I highly recommend this volume and am pleased that I made the purchase. It is written in an excellent format for young readers. Not overly complicated.

My husband took my kids to an exhibit about the Titanic a few months ago, and ever since, my son (age 7) has been interested in the Titanic. He's not the strongest reader, either in terms of interest or skill, but this book really captured his interest, and we'd trade off reading pages. He loved it. We just finished the Gettysburg title in the same series... the series is a bit weird to me because of the focus on some fairly serious disasters. But I think that's just a girl perspective. I think the writers do a good job of balancing the needs to be realistic/true and to be careful about their audience. So I'd really recommend this book.

Ordered this book for my daughter because she is obsessed with all things history related. Book came in great conditon, no wear or tear inside or out of book. She is in 2nd grade and was able to comprehend and read this book with no problem.Love DK books.
